Recommended Tools of The SEO Trade

The List of Products and Services that Are on My (near) Must-Have’s!

(what with the recent debacle over high PR site networks being de-indexed in Google, I’ve placed a warning sign beside those tools and or services that I feel you ought to take care over using from now onwards)

I said quite a while back that I am intent on making these tools more affordable to everyone who wishes to use them. Well, here you go – many of the tools that I list here, I am offering a substantial reduction in monthly cost.

This reduction will come out of my own affiliate payment and will be re-imbursed to you via Paypal. See below for individual details.

Article Submissions “on Semi- Auto”

Submit Your Articles

I’ve not used this service yet, but I’m hearing good things about it – a good alternative to Unique Article Wizard. Pricing – there’s two accounts – one at $47 a month, and the other at $67 a month.

I can only offer a small money-back deal on this service since the commissions are pretty low. $8 cash back per month on the $47 account, and $10 cash back to you per month on the $67 account. This does not apply to their ArticlesX packages.

Please email me a copy of your Paypal receipt after purchase via my affiliate link above, along with your Paypal ID, thank you.

For a sizzling hot reduction on monthly price, please see my UAW review here…

Be aware – this tool is powerful stuff!

Spinning Articles for Article Submission

By far and away the best software for this job is The Best Spinner

If you prefer to get someone else to spin your articles for you, try out this service which I’ve heard good things about…

Backlinking Tools

Link Authority (warning – this network may be dumped by Google)

I’ve yet to use this tool and thus yet to review the service, but this is what appears to be a good alternative to BMR. BMR have currently closed their doors to new customers while they upgrade their service, thus its no bad idea to try out Link Authority in the meantime. The set up is similar to BMR, but the daily submissions part is very different – you can add your own sites to the network (has to be a site with a home page PR2 and above) to gain credits, or you can pay for your daily submissions. Looks good!

Blog Blueprint (warning – this network may be dumped by Google)
For a money-back deal on Blog Blueprint please visit my review

The Private Network (warning – this network may be dumped by Google)
I’ve not reviewed this backlinking service, but its pretty decent stuff. Once you’ve set up your URL’s and added your related keyword phrases, its all on auto.

Good for hitting outer tier sites which link back to your money site, or for building up Web2′s to also link back to your money site.
Link to my review…

The review (sorry, no money off here cos the affiliate earns peanuts)
Very easy and fast to pump up the volume of backlinks to a site using directories with various levels of Google Page Rank – up to a PR of 9! One word of caution though – don’t go too strong with it on a new domain.

Social Tools

By social tools I mean tools and services that can be used to improve your website’s “sociability” factor. Not all websites fit well into this mold, but with the likes of SocialAdr, not all websites have to fit into this mold. You can use SocialAdr on any site no matter which niche its in. That being said, Synnd is not the one glove fits all type of service. It will work on most sites, but may be a bit limited in which services they will match to certain niches.

If you are not too sure about the usage of Synnd, you can sign up to a free two week trial on the $147 account and give it a whirl.

Synnd

Looks to be a very solid service – in fact, possibly the most “solid” social service available today. The concept is that when you start a Synnd campaign for your site, over time this campaign snowballs whereby lots of other people who are busy on the social scene see that your site is gaining popularity, and they then jump in too. Great idea!

Check out my “sort of” review of Synnd over here…

 http://www.josepharchibald.com/synnd-early-thoughts-about-social-networking-service

After you click the link above, jump down the page a bit to find the info on Synnd.

This tool is all about social bookmarking (including Twitter tweets and Facebook Likes from other users). You may have read somewhere that I have become somewhat disillusioned with social bookmarking as a solid method to achieve good Google rankings. Well, I believe now that I was wrong. Not only is social bookmarking a very good way to mix up a long term backlinking strategy, but its a good way to achieve rankings unto its own. And this tool (which is web based, so no messing around with captchas or setting up horrible software on your desktop) has to be one of the best ones! Its so easy to use, and the links are excellent because other people use their social bookmarking accounts to give you backlinks.
The downside is that although the links are in place, there’s no traffic to “back up” the social media side of things.

Keyword Research

To get your money back offer on this tool, simply sign up via my link here on my product review.
There is a function on this tool called SEO Competition, which allows you to assess the top ten in your chosen niche and for your chosen kwd phrase – its superb! Further, there is also a function that allows you to search out mature domain names that are available for purchase – neat! Otherwise, you can find great sites to gain a backlink from by checking out exactly how your competition have obtained their high PR backlinks.

Spencer Haws LongTailPro

Spencer Haws from http://nichesitepursuits.com created this niche and keyword research tool and has used it to carve out whopping online income by building websites based on his keyword research. Says it all, really! Read my review of Long Tail Pro. Looking good!

WordPress Premium Themes

CTR Theme

This is an AdSense dedicated theme. The good thing about it is, apart from very easy installation, it allows you to rotate different ad styles so you can check out which style has the best click through on your site. This facility alone makes the $67 one-time investment worthwhile! What’s more, if you use my affiiate link, and keep the theme for a minimum of 2 months, then I’ll reimburse you to the tune of $20! Simply send me a copy of your Paypal receipt 2 months after initial purchase, along with your Paypal ID, and I’ll send you the cash!

This is the theme I have running on my blog and many of my other sites. Its clean, its tidy, its fairly simple to get used to. Its a great theme!

Hi Joseph,

As you would be well aware your backlinking strategy has taken off on Pat Flynn’s blog… Well done, it is AWESOME.

I thought I would share the love and purchase your ebook (which I have), but also see if it held the answer to one of my questions…

With the article spinning phase I assume you create a different article for each of the new blogs, web 2.0, and links for blog blueprint, but do you spin a new article for each of the Article Directories you submit to as well?? Coz normally you don’t need to right? You just submit the same spun article to all the article directories right? Or with this strategy do you need a different spun article?

Lastly for every new spun article you create, do you write up a new headline? Or keep it the same through out

Thanks a million!
Duncan

Joseph December 21, 2010 at 9:36 am

Hi Duncan, thanks a lot for coming over from Pat’s blog, and for your purchase of the 40 Day Challenge eBook – very much appreciated!

If I manage to get a good level of uniqueness (if the subject matter is not highly technical for example) then I would for sure merely use the same spun content (same seed article) for article directory submissions. My Twilight posterz site is still ranking well in Google even though I have hardly touched it with backlinks for the previous 6 months, so I would say that using the same spun content (from the same seed article) for a lot of article directory submissions and also Web 2.0s is perfectly fine.

I also spin my titles and the bio boxes where that’s appropriate Duncan. The more spinning the over-all less footprint.

Hope that helps to clarify!

Kind regards
Joseph

What are your thoughts on Market Samurai? Seems like everyone is using it, but I think I still need more feedback for throwing down that much cash. I see you use Micro Niche Finder, so I assume you like it better. Same cost from what I see, $97. Or maybe I’m comparing apples to oranges. Thanks Joseph!

Hi Randy, I’m not techie by nature even though I can work a television ;-) When I trialled MS on a couple of occasions I just found it too clunky to get to grips with. Even though for many people its real quick to see the results that they want – takes a little getting used to, is all.

But to be honest I don’t need to use any other tool than the free Google keyword finder – that tool tells all you need to know, providing you have a look at your top 10 to ensure there is no real heavy branding at the top and that you sense its rankable. To see the top 10 in “real life” and then to make an assessment is a good skill to develop.

Cheers!

Joseph February 19, 2011 at 6:41 am

That should be it now Matt – thanks for letting me know about that!

sweet I ordered both the best spinner and article marketing robot from your links i think it will be a killer combo in helping me with getting more backlinks.

Joseph February 20, 2011 at 3:07 am

That’s great, thanks a lot for that Matt! Keep in mind that goog have changed the ball game fairly dramatically so do take care with your backlinking strategy cos they are very sensitive these days and can sniff out a “rat” in an instant.

Cheers!

Hey Matt, do you still have your Best Spinner order receipt by any chance? For the second time in 2 weeks the sale has not been accredited to my affiliate and support say there is no sale showing under your name either.

Thanks,

Duncan March 10, 2011 at 2:12 am

Hi Joseph,

I am back again (re:comment on DEC 21st)!
I just wanted ask you a question… What is the best article submitting service you have in your experience?

After purchasing your book “40 day challenge” I decided to do the strategy, but after varying reports (and your recommendation of it on your Resource Page) I decided to buy Article Marketing Robot instead of UAW simply because I heard it was just as good, plus it was a one time payment – not monthly.

But now after taking one quick look at Pat’s site I saw this comment from you:
“Reply Joseph Archibald on November 30th, 2010 at 5:06 am

Hi Mike, in answer to your question about Article Marketing Robot. I’ve been using it now for about 6 weeks. That’s still not enough time to truly judge it. But fact is, with some tools I can rank top spot in Google within 6 weeks, whereas with AMR I’ve not made much progress at all. Its incredibly fast at indexing pages in Google – 12 hours is what I saw with one new site. But it appears very slow to be ranking anything for me. Its a good tool for some purposes, but I can’t vouch for its ability to rank pages in Google…

UAW I’ve used for over 2 years – on and off. It worked back then, it works now, and it no doubt will work in another 2 years time and more. Its a sound piece of kit, I can vouch for that!

Cheers!
Joseph”

As you can see that through me for a loop. I am prepared to buy UAW instead if you think it is the best, but if they are one par, I may’s keep AMR right?

Looking forward to your response, and as always thanks for contribution to IM!

Regards,
Duncan

Joseph March 10, 2011 at 7:54 am

Hi Duncan, nice to have you here once again!

I would keep using AMR and not invest in UAW. They both do a similar job and I suspect its just the way you use them that matters. AMR is a very powerful tool and its easy to go over the top with it and that’s where you have to be careful – particularly with google’s recent algorithm changes. At one time not long ago you could rank a webpage/website in google simply by using mass article marketing, but I have extreme doubts that this is now possible to do. Thus its sensible to mix up your backlinking strategy and not simply rely on article marketing.

If its a fairly fresh domain with only a few backlinks then take things very slowly to begin.

Further, a good friend of mine is telling me that no-follow backlinks are working very well for him. This goes against traditional SEO thinking entirely. So I would advise throwing them into the mix too. By all means use YouTube (which is no-follow) if it suits your niche, and do some forum commenting (again – if it suits your niche) and don’t get hung up whether its do-follow or no-follow links.

So basically, what I am saying here Duncan is, get a real good mix of backlinks to your site/s, don’t go too fast too early, do focus on getting lots of no-follow backlinks in the mix, do also think about going for the social media type of backlinks which I would suggest are become more valuable these days (not social bookmarking backlinks though as those are somewhat discounted by google (in my opinion) due to their previous use for spamming purposes), and no doubt you’ll benefit from doing so!

Best wishes!

Joseph

Chris March 18, 2011 at 6:49 pm

Here are what I think the best tools are currently that Joseph had listed above:

AMR- I would rank this a little above UAW simply b/c its a one and off payment and you get exactly what you pay for.

Blog Blueprint- A pretty good blog submitting tool. Allows you to use spun content and you will see movement up in the SERPS.

Best Spinner- Nuff said

BMR- Although I have never used it I hear the indexing rate is insane (which is the one downfall of BB). One downfall on this is the ability to use spun content. However, when it is all said and done this tool really kicks ass.

Joseph March 18, 2011 at 7:17 pm

Thanks for your feedback Chris!

The Build my Rank tool – I’ll be writing up my final feedback on it in the next couple of days, so that should be worth checking out for anyone who is interested in taking on this particular tool for a bit. Currently it gets a big thumbs up from me! What will the final assessment be like?

Duncan March 22, 2011 at 4:47 am

Hi Joesph,

Thanks for your last response… Sorry but I have two more questions!
Firstly I am all about ease of use and saving time, which brings me to my question: What is the easiest to use AMR or UAW? Because what ever is the easiest is what I’ll buy (price is not a factor in this choice).
Secondly, I going to create a number of keyword specific blogs on the same topic, should I use the same account for web 2.0 / blogs sites (e.g. squidoo, etc)? Or different? (Same author name too?)

Cheers!

Joseph March 23, 2011 at 12:17 pm

Hi Duncan, what is the easiest to use? Both are easy – I can use both without any problem and me being a non-techie – that says something! AMR is the more powerful tool, so that could be the deciding factor.

I don’t see any problem if using the same web 2.0 account to backlink to different blogs – cuts down the workload and I don’t see how or why Google would penalize this.

Regards
Joseph

Jo, I’m wondering if you would recommend either SocialMonkee or IMautomator…

http://www.socialmonkee.com/index.php?af=67737

http://imautomator.com/

I’ve been messing around with both, but I’m not sure if they really help. Any idea?

Thanks!

Joseph January 8, 2012 at 7:37 pm

Hey JP, your comment got caught up in spam for some reason – must be the links you inserted in your comment.

I’ve never used Social Monkee and its been a long time since I used IMAutomator so I’m not too handy at giving a valued opinion on either of those tools. I do use SocialADR fairly often, and although it does not drive traffic as such, it still does have a positive effect on my rankings and helps to vary up the backlinks in an SEO campaign.

I’ve heard good things about a service called Synnd, although when I tried to join up with it over a year ago, I never made any progress with it at all. But the key with that tool is that is not only bookmarks your webpages, it also helps to drive traffic, which is really what Google want to be seeing, hence its regarded as a more valuable tool. The most popular option of Synnd is the Pro option, which costs $97 a month, although there is a freebie offer too which is probably good at allowing you a feel for what’s on offer there.

http://synnd.com/

Hope that’s helpful, JP!

Wanders January 23, 2012 at 10:31 am

Hi Joseph,

I have gone ahead and tried the BMR trial. After checking some of the links after they have gone live it appears that the websites look a little like content farms in the sense that they have quite a lot of varied and unrelated content. I was under the impression that this was not a good thing especially as they are paid links.

My ratio of 9 links has been diverse, from 1 Pr4, to 2 Pr3s, 3 PR2 and 3 PR1. Too early to see any real developments with serps but will monitor carefully.

I really like the service, it is brilliant, it tells you when the links have been indexed and everything plus the quality control is very good. I’m just a bit worried that if this is to be the core of my backlinking that the fact that these websites look like content farms is a bit worrying.

Have I got it wrong? Right? Would like to start paid version, if you could answer me this query that would be great.

Joseph January 23, 2012 at 4:48 pm

Hi Christopher, it may look like a link farm, but Google certainly do not treat these links as such – far from it. Further, most backlinks these days are paid for one way or the other and Goog are very much aware of that.

I’ve been using this system for the past 18 months Christopher and its now formed the core of my backlinking strategy. I like to think I’m fairly successful at playing the Goog ranking game on the whole, and a lot of that success can be accredited to BMR.

Regards
Joseph

Wanders January 23, 2012 at 8:57 pm

Wow, that’s seriously powerful stuff, I have actually already seen a pick up of traffic after 7 days so that’s quite unusual and I hope it continues.

I will purchase by end of week. Very pleased and really enjoying your blog.

One more thing if I could be cheeky. I have two sites both exact name domain matches for the same targeted keyword. One Site I built myself and it is an awesome styled email converter, the other one I inherited is a wordpress disaster freebie theme converting no email leads. The problem arises when the rubbish one is ranking #1 and mine is #2.

Is there any way that I can direct traffic from the bad site straight to my good one without losing the position?

Thanks Joseph, you’re a legend. :)

Joseph January 23, 2012 at 9:11 pm

Hi Christopher, yeah – BMR is a very solid tool. One thing I notice when I gain top ten rankings and I’ve been using BMR for much of my early backlinking work – generally my top ten ranking URL has far fewer backlinks than all the other URL’s in top ten. What does this tell you about the power of BMR? These links are strong enough to achieve some good rankings on their own, but really do work well when mixed in with other backlinking tools and methods.

Regards directing traffic to your better performing site. You can do a 301 redirect on the URL of the non-performer to the performer. That should not only redirect the traffic but also should redirect the juice from the backlinks to your better performing site. I’m not sure how to set that up on other WP themes, but on Thesis theme its very easy to do so I imagine its pretty easy to do on your site too. Hope that works out for you Christopher!

Regards
Joseph

Mike Shreeve January 24, 2012 at 9:52 pm

Hi Joseph,
You are the man. I purchased your 40 day challenge ebook and I have been seriously blown away. Prob the best $$ i have spent on online marketing info.

If you don’t mind I do have a really quick question though. Can you target more than one keyword using this strategy? For example if I was trying to go after 3 or 4 keywords would I need to set up 3 or 4 different circles of web 2.0′s and article directories with 3 or 4 different usernames passwords etc.? Or do I just need one link wheel structure per website?

Thanks,

Mike

Joseph January 24, 2012 at 11:02 pm

Hello Mike, many thanks for your feedback about the ebook! I tend to agree with you, oddly enough ;-)

Yes, you can indeed target more than a single kwd phrase. You can target as many as you want, really. Its wise to “mix it up” with all the kwds you are targeting, although you don’t have to do that in the web2′s and article directory submission backlinks.

With the web2′s, you can add more content and thereby target more kwds that way – add more variations of anchor text as you add more content to each web2.

Hope that’s helpful Mike!

Joseph

uncle bob April 12, 2012 at 7:31 am

Hi Joseph, great book!! I came over from Pat Flynns rework of your 40day WSO. One question if I may.

Ok, we use UAW to provide mass backlinks to the anchor layer and lets say we have 20 Web2.0/Article Dir/etc.. If we have 1 spun article that contain 2 links in the resource box, how can we target and backlink all 20 blogs using this 1 spun article in one run?

Do we have to do several runs with this one article using multiple resource boxes or do we have to write other spun articles and then repeat?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated
uncle bob recently posted..Tire Changers

Joseph April 12, 2012 at 7:47 am

Hi Uncle Bob, thanks for the feedback!

Well, there’s two ways of doing this.

1. Change your anchor text so that you can target all your web2′s and article submissions in one UAW submission (you may prefer to just focus on say – 10 different buffer sites for now, but that’s your call).

2. Simply add two different URL’s in your anchor text in the UAW articles, in which case, if you have 20 web2′s/article submissions and you wish to backlink to all of them, you’ll need to do ten different UAW runs.

I know that sounds like a lot of work, and it is, but its a safe way to achieve Goog rankings, and in my opinion safe is by far the best – more so now than before.

Hope that makes sense Uncle Bob.

Joseph

uncle bob April 12, 2012 at 8:27 am

Thanks for the rapid response J.

Am I assuming correctly in option 2, I would need to use a unique seed article in each of the 10 runs?

Have you tested both ways to see which yields the best results? Option 2 seems the most intensive though I dont mind this route if it produces the better results.

I agree totally that the “safe” way is the only way I cant take any more slaps!

Well Uncle Bob, I’d say there’s no best way other than the way that suits you best. Its a real grind this stuff, so whatever suits your style best – is best here. The end results will be somewhat similar at the end of the day – just depends on how much you do and how long it takes to do it.

Best wishes with that!

Ong May 17, 2012 at 1:59 pm

Hi, it’s me again.. :)

What do you think is the best method or tools to build backlinks after recent Google updates, penguin?

Please gimme your thought and why?

Joseph May 17, 2012 at 2:11 pm

Hi Ong, personally, I’m not too keen on building backlinks straight to money site if its a fairly new site. Its more important than ever that if you wish to rank in Google with a fresh site, you keep the backlinking to a minimum.

Building outer tier sites which link to the money site, and then linking to the outer tier sites is still a very good method to pursue at this time.
