IMG 6039 Images for Affiliate Program and Life in Malaysia

I managed to escape the confines of the Malaysian jungle and am now back home, beavering away at replyng to emails and adding images for the Affiliate website – both for the slideshow and for your own use.

Please go to the Affiliate link at the bottom left hand side of the site and sign up for an account via PayDotCom if you have not already done so. If you have already done so, just log in to your PayDotCom account and you should see a number of images there, each of which has the html for you to copy past to your own site.

More images are coming shortly.

SideNote: I’m having problems with most of the images which are being placed on PayDotCom for affiliate use. Although the images are showing up, they are showing with a red “X” beside them, which is telling me there is something not quite right with the html code. Unless you are familiar with hmtl setup, it may be wise to wait until I am able to fix this (another PayDotCom support query has been sent) or else you may find yourself thoroughly frustrated when trying to correct this, like I currently am!

You are at full liberty to utilize any of the images that are on the actual website however.

There are now only 7 places left available to get on board to promote this first product via my own subscribers list, so do be sure to jump on board as soon as you can. Once those 7 places have been filled, I’ll be creating a waiting list. Should anyone drop out in times to come, then this list will be re-opened. But if you want to get involved now, I advise you take prompt action!

Later today, I’ll create a short video for anyone wishing to use the Build My Rank tool. I added in 4 posts just before I left for the jungle the other day and all have now been added “to the system” and have been indexed in Google – all range from a Google Page Rank of 1 to 3, so that should add a nice bit of link juice to my chosen keyword phrases.

Just briefly – I had a great time in the jungle, albeit never saw much in the way of IMG 6041 Images for Affiliate Program and Life in Malaysiaanimal life other than behind bars in a zoo (I’m not at all a fan of this – you see orang utans (Malay for forest man), wild cats, hornbills and the like, couped up in relatively small cages. And I don’t see that there is too much in the way of educational value either. To my mind, its more animal cruetly mixed with a bit of human greed, than anything).

The weather was not conducive to too much trekking, which may have been just as well because I’m much more of a “pen pusher” these days and I doubt I’d be up to miles and miles of climbing mountains, whilst dealing with mosqitoes and leaches as well as watching over-head for poisonous snakes falling on my head.

One thing that did strike me more than ever though. We visited a fish market which is situated right beside the largest river in Sarawak (Sungai Kuching). This is mainly fished by local Malay people. It is becoming more and more apparent to me that these people live a day to day existence – very much different to what we are now used to in the western world.

IMG 6045 Images for Affiliate Program and Life in MalaysiaWhat I mean by that is – the folks go out in their boats, catch their daily take of fish, lobsters, crabs, tiger prawns, squid and so on. They then bring back their haul and sell it there and then from their market stalls, set up on the river bank. No middle men involved. No business contracts to sign.

Once all the catch has been sold for that day, they retire to a very simple life with families and friends – in simple houses painted all colours of the rainbow, many of which are built on stilts so as to provide some safe haven from the almost inevitable flooding during the rainy season.

Even grandmothers, grandfathers and young children get involved in the daily activities. Its a hive of activity, at least for part of each and every day.

Little Malay girl

But in amongst this hive of activity, I could not help but sense an inner peace. Simpleness that you don’t get over in the west, or within the cities of Malaysia.

It seems that these people could care less about gaining wealth in terms of financial income. They just want to live a fairly “chilled” life. No fighting, no real stresses and strains to deal with. Its like there is no real worry – life will take care of itself.

Everyone works together for the sake of the community, or in this case – the village, which is called “kampong” in the Malay language.

When I walked down the street enjoying the atmosphere and watching what was IMG 6047 Images for Affiliate Program and Life in Malaysiagoing on after enjoying a delicious meal which cost about a dollar US, I was patently aware that many people were staring at me.

Not that I look like elephant man or anything of the kind. I imagine its a rareity for these people to see an “orang putih” (white person) in their midst. And I wondered to myself, what it would be like to give up those dreams that I was taught to pursue from early childhood – money, money, money and more money, and go and live in a kampong for a while. No doubt much of my thinking would be changed for ever.

Although I did not take too many photos with my trusted tiny little pocket camera, a picture does tell a thousand words. So let these images speak for themselves. Hover your mouse over the image for captions (the current WordPress version is a big buggy).

Hi, Jo..

I can’t find the affiliate link you mentioned.. What I see on the site’s bottom left is the 40-day Challenge eBook.. or is that really what I’m supposed to see? :P

Anyway, I also subscribed for updates but I didn’t get any through email. I learned about this new post when I saw it on Facebook..

Che, I mean’t the bottom left hand side of the affiliate site, not my blog here. One moment, I’ll email you the link.

Sometimes email and rss site subscriptions take a bit of time to come through the system. There are a number of blogs I subscribe to which take 12 hours or sometimes longer – after a new post is up, before I get note of that post. Keep me posted, will you? :-)

Great article! Love the pic of the guy smokin a cig! These people look so content and happy. No wonder, they have it easy! No contracts, or middle men with money grubbing hands to interfere with they’re daily sales activity. They even have a plethora of sea food to eat as well as a fairly descent weather pattern to keep things “chill” :) I want to hang with the dude smokin a cig :p

Hey Jasmine, there’s the one side of this life “style” for want of a better word that is totally chilled and no worries to be had, but there’s the other also – its too laid back for its own good.

An example – just last night I heard about a friend of a friend who died in a road accident the other day – riding on a motor scooter, and because folks here are not taught how to drive properly (the poor standard of driving is sometimes unbelievable) and the laws are often flouted on the roads, they were knocked off their motor scooter and end of story.

Not wearing a helmet, which is very common-place within kampong areas because almost all the police are Malay and thus none of the Malays are “done” for driving offences (such as not wearing a helmet when driving a motor scooter or bike).

Nevertheless, there is a lot to be said for living the chilled life where it appears that no one has any worries. The price of a pack of 20 cigs here is about 35 pence UK, which is around 50 cents US (compare that to £6.00 for 20 in the UK!). If you like your smokes, there’s no doubt the price tag will please you and you can happily chill with the dude with the cig without fear of spending too much of your greenbacks!

Hi Joseph,
I signed up for your opt-in list, but haven’t received any information after that. In fact I just tried to sign up again, but was told that I had already confirmed my subscription. Could you please have a look into that?

Hi Karen, I see you on the list but its saying “inactive” for whatever reason. Another glitch with GetResponse. I’ll get in touch with support and get them to (hopefully) sort this out Karen. Sorry about the confusion and delay!

Where is the affiliate link? I’m still not sure what is your huge project about? I’m just new here. Wonder what is your project about? Do I need to read up all the post before any of this make sense. It will take me day? Whew! Care to spare me.

Apologies for this Jeffrey – I capped this affiliate program at 50 subscribers. The reason I mentioned it in this post was that I had problems in sending out the optin emails to people on the list at the time. No need for you to read up on all the posts – you now know :-)

Great pictures!
I don’t know if you’ve seen the pictures of my camping trip with my girlfriend. We went and lived the ‘simple life’ for a few days, got up with nature when the sun came up, collected firewood, cooked on an open camp fire, did a lot of sitting around and thinking, enjoying each others’ company, went to bed when nature went to bed and when the sun went down.
Completely stress-free. Did what we had to do each day to make it through to the next. Happiness increased, and we were content just being us, and stress-free.
You should spend some time in the village Jo and report on your life-changing experience.

It does make one wonder…most people that live like this, in close communities, and where financial worries are pretty much non-existent (not because they’re rich, but because they are poor and have no real need for money anyway); these people always seem sooooo much more happier than anybody else.

Sounds utterly idyllic Ben! I’ll be sure to journey across to your blog to see those pics and read your post/s about “living with nature on your doorstep” in Wales – I take it that it was Wales?

As you say – stress free way to live (which is conducive to feeling more happiness), cos you just tend to focus on today and the next day, and not worry about the next 6 months, year, 5 years and so on.

I hear you – folks that don’t worry about making money because they don’t value it so much as the rest of us do – they seem more content with their lives than the rest of us. I remember my days as a student – it was real hard work, no doubt about it and stressful too – just cos of the workload. But I had very few savings, and I had no income at all. But yet I remember those days as being the best days of my life thus far. Very rewarding, not competing with my neighbour as to who had the biggest house or the biggest car. No sense of false values to worry about really. There’s most definitely a whole lot of food for thought where this subject is concerned!

Take care Ben!

J
