Cheap Domain Names, Clickbank, How to Use EzineArticles for Traffic

by Joseph on May 24, 2010

This was an email that I sent in answer to some questions that a friend had earlier regards his website. I thought I would post it up here, even though the answers are brief and to the point – it addresses a number of different issues, and some of those may well be highly relevant to yourself.

SO here goes…

Re: where to buy cheaper domain names (a kind gent on the WF told me this not long ago, so thanks to him for that!)

Hi Tom (name changed for privacy), if you do a search for something like “namecheap offer” or “namecheap voucher” you will probably find a money off voucher for buying domain names on namecheap. Its the same code as it would be for this month last year, so if you come across a code that seems out of date, keep this in mind.

Then, once you bought it, you simply point your nameservers to your hostgator account. You will probably have to fiddle around a bit to do that since you are not familiar with the setup but because you got a very logical mind it should be pretty easy. I cant be more helpful here as I have never used namecheap. I stick with dynadot cos of the volume of domains I bought in the past I now get a nice discount.

Re ezine articles, sounds like you may have hit a tough niche for traffic. Some niches on ezinearticles are so hot it would blow your mind, but many are not. It could well be that the one you are choosing is not simply because you are not pulling many clicks.
The way to find out which is hot and which is not is to do a few searches on ezine articles. Check out your niche and click on any article that shows up under your search. Go down near the bottom of the article and click on one of those that says “most read”.
See the date and check the amount of times its been read in this time. If you are looking at 1000 times in the past 3 weeks then you know this is a hottish niche.

You see, sometimes your articles will fit 2 or 3 different niches, so its a case of hitting the most popular one and that way you are sure to get much more traffic. As long as you are still on topic, of course.

Clickbank huh. Could be good, but maybe not. The problem with CB is the amount of fraud. Now if you got something that is remotely IM related you are in for what could be a rough ride. IMers know how to steal your commissions and many of them have no qualms about this either (no, I am not refering to you here!!).
After all, if you are a struggling IM’er and are desperate for that new product on CB, but not got the cash flow, then its totally understandable why this happens.
If you are not attracting IMers but are hitting on the computer nerds (such as yourself, haha!) alone you could well be just fine here. That will be interesting to see how things go.
Keep in mind that often what the product vendor (on CB) says regards to purchase rate percentages, well, I think you gotta take it with a pinch of salt. Product vendors often quote something like 5% purchase to click thru. I think its more likely 1 – 2%. So generally speaking you gotta be having reasonable traffic to be making sales.
You may be fortunate though, I sincerley think that there are a few products that get a far better sales ratio. But the ones I have tried the ratios are pretty terrible!

The Yahoo Answers sound like a great thing really. How you getting along with forum and/or blog posting?

Regards
Jo
