Top 10 Blogs for Freelance Writers

Top Freelance Writing Blogs Top 10 Blogs for Freelance WritersNo doubt you’ve read a list of top blogs about ……. (by all means fill in the blank). Hopefully though, this is a little different to
what you’ve read before. Its certainly different to anything I’ve compiled before – not at all my typical blog post. But its been fun
putting it together!

What made me compose this post?

Well, although you probably know my blog as being something of a wayward piece of work which tends to fly from one topic to the next then back again, it is in general a blog about making money online in order to achieve a better quality of life (even if that means earning a meagre income – in this particular case, size does not always matter – its all relative).

Now up until fairly recently, I probably would not have discussed freelance writing. After all, a freelance writer still answers to a boss
- or a large number of bosses. However, the qualifier is that freelance writing tends to allow you to choose when you wish to work, how often you wish to work, and where you wish to work from (either your bedroom at home, or sitting by a swimming pool in a tropical country under a palm tree like I’ve been known to do occasionally icon smile Top 10 Blogs for Freelance Writers ).

Thus, freelance writing does fit the bill very much in that its a super way to make a living – period!

What made me choose the blogs that I have, over and above all the other blogs that have a freelance writing focus? That’s a tricky question to answer and there’s really no hard and fast answer. This post is more about exposing some really good blogs that have a freelance writing or freelance blogging emphasis to them. That’s not to say there are no others though, so do try to maintain an open mind.

Let’s move on to the actual list. Even though its a top ten list, this top ten is in no particular order of merit (who am I to cast that sort of judgment?).

Comments are more than welcome and please feel free to let me know of other blogs you think should belong on this list, thanks!

How to Become a Freelance Writer Online

The Beatles Paperback Writer How to Become a Freelance Writer Online

I’m “winging it” today with this post (not sure if that’s the correct terminology?). I’m still in the midst of writing up some SEO related articles for a client but I thought I’d take a short breather and write this blog post. My blog posts have been flailing over the past 10 days or so, apologies for that!

The question I’m trying to answer with the current series of posts is this - is it easy to become an online freelance writer or freelance blogger? (Providing that you have a basic skill set in place, and I’m making something of a presumption that I do have).

In my humble and recent experience, I would have to say NOPE! Its not so easy to quickly break into the realms of the freelancer.

Freelance Writing Work – Update

Stuck in the Money Hole Freelance Writing Work Update

Stuck in the Money Hole

Update on the previous post about the “experiment” regarding freelance writing, or – to be more exact – freelance blogging.

Well, as I write this, I’ve had my Warrior Forum advert live for almost 24 hours. And would you believe it but I’ve still not had a single enquiry.

I’m offering to write 500 word articles for 8 bucks. I mean – geez – this is embarrassing enough, but the fact that no one is interested in taking up my offer is even more embarrassing. Something has to be missing – either I’m missing the plot big time, or my intended audience are missing the plot big time. I suspect the latter, but then I’m biased icon wink Freelance Writing Work Update

What does this tell you about the state of things in the internet marketing world? As a writer, if you are not willing to dip to 5 bucks or below for a 500 word article, then you really are going to struggle getting clients. That’s not always the case of course, but for IM type forums, its become so competitive in the service industries that it can be very tough to get a foothold.

Nevertheless, I’m not going to change the ad and I’m certainly NOT going to lower my price!

I’ll stick to it. Experience tells me that one thing often leads to another, which can then lead to another. So I’m happy to let this ad run and just see what comes of things. I’ll not invest the required 40 bucks to bump the ad either – I’ll just let it run…

Other than this though, I did land a couple of blog writing gigs simply through the blog post I wrote the other day. One is in the finance niche and the other is in the education niche. That’s good because I can utilize my writing for these blogs as a springboard to finding other work in more lucrative areas than the Warrior Forum would ever be.

That’s how this game works – networking is very important indeed. And I think if you have something of a portfolio of work to show, then you are generally streets ahead of the competition. Let’s see how things go…

Freelance Writing Work – Am I Good Enough to be a Freelance Writer?

6788575828 f1e382e133 Freelance Writing Work Am I Good Enough to be a Freelance Writer?

.

I’m going to do an experiment. Nothing new there then, I hear you say. This time its an experiment with something of a difference.

This time, I’m going to try to break into the high(er) flying writers’ arena.

Let me explain what I mean.

If you read this post then you will know I picked up a freelance bloggers guide to making money online. In other words, finding high paying jobs whereby you write blog posts for other people and get paid well for doing so. Its possible to achieve an income of over $80 per hour by following this as a career opportunity, but just how difficult is it to break into the line of work?

Its the same for freelance writing as a whole. Some writers earn well in excess of $100 per hour. But just how tricky is it to gain access to these higher paying jobs?

I thought I’d go undercover and try to find out icon smile Freelance Writing Work Am I Good Enough to be a Freelance Writer?

A Simple Business Model That Packs a Strong Punch!

TBGF 3DCover 1 A Simple Business Model That Packs a Strong Punch! Here’s a simple little idea for generating a potentially very healthy cash flow which I sort of stumbled upon just yesterday when I was researching for another topic entirely.

I was reading a post on Tom Ewer’s super blog about how he’s come up with an idea for an eBook.

Well, one thing led to another and to something else and I ended up purchasing an eBook from another website. I’ll make a point of also buying Tom’s work when he’s finished it, just to let you know.

That particular purchase I will discuss more at length once I’ve finalized my reading – I’m less than half way through the book. Nevertheless, I will mention the eBook here for your information.

The topic – freelance blogging.

Or in other words, writing blog posts for money. And yeah, its a J O B but its a J O B with a lot of in-built flexibility, which makes it less of a J O B than a normal J O B.

Apparently its possible to earn seriously good money by writing blog posts for others. But it does not merely stop there. If you become successful at this pursuit, you can actually turn it into a much more rounded out business whereby you’re not only generating content for businesses etc. but you are in fact handling the whole online kaboodle for them.

What’s Holding You Back from Self-Publishing on Kindle? YOU CAN Do It!!

J K Rowling 300x241 Whats Holding You Back from Self Publishing on Kindle? YOU CAN Do It!!

I’m just writing this post off the top of my head (so the post is probably full of grammatical errors – you’ll see why I mention that in a moment), and I’m writing it because I’m fully aware that there are many potentially budding Amazon Kindle eBook writers within the internet marketing arena.

After all, publishing on Kindle is a “relatively” easy way to make money – it potentially can become a way to make a vast PASSIVE income for years and years to come.

And there’s no reliance on Google tactics, which will of course come as a huge relief to many marketers who’ve seen their webpages repeatedly dumped by the ever-changing Google search algorithms.

Now, this is not my typical blog post. Its actually WAY out there. But there’s good reason…

I’ve been reading quite a bit about publishing – self-publishing on Kindle. In fact, I’ve been reading quite a lot about all sorts of ways to earn a very good living by working (or not “working” as the case may be, because a lot of online income models are relatively passive). Let me relate to you a few pointers that I’ve learned for myself, and quite honestly – came as a real breath of fresh air to me too!

If you think you can’t write a book then think again!

And I don’t necessarily mean a book of non-fiction.

You don’t have to write how-to books to make a seriously huge income by self-publishing on Kindle – you can write fiction instead.

I see you shaking your head. You don’t believe that you can do that. After all, you are far from a literary genius, and you have to be a literary genius and have an amazing amount of creativity to be able to write fiction successfully.

Let me relate to you a story at this point. And I’ll try not to bore the pants off of ya! icon smile Whats Holding You Back from Self Publishing on Kindle? YOU CAN Do It!!

When I was a kid – between the ages of about… 8 and 12… I had this idea that I wanted to become a writer of fiction books.

In fact, when I was 10 years old, I entered a fiction writing competition and won top prize. The main prize was to have my story read out on national radio.

I never heard it being read out, but I was told it was read out, and apparently – potentially – there were millions of listeners. It was BBC Radio 4 which broadcasts in the UK, and abroad as the World Service (or part of the World Service anyhow).

I’ll tell you exactly why I was good at writing fiction in those days – at the age of 10. My sense of creativity had absolutely NO BOUNDS! I was a child and I thought exactly as a child thinks – BOUNDLESS LEVELS OF CREATIVITY!!

But, when I graduated to secondary school, things became much more systematic. English literature classes were structured in such a way as to knock all potential creativity out of you in order that you followed “their” system.

I “graduated” from my English literature class with a C minus, which quite frankly is a thoroughly mediocre result indeed.

And the reason why I graduated with such a pathetically low scoring was that I was being taught to write like a machine, and was being taught to avoid self-creativity at all costs. And there ended my boundless sense of creativity, which quite frankly had the effect of making me a thoroughly mediocre student!
