Can I Enhance My Google Rankings Using Social Media Alone? (no standard backlinking allowed)

Bill Gates and Steve Wozniak LIKED THIS Can I Enhance My Google Rankings Using Social Media Alone? (no standard backlinking allowed)

I’ve decided to do a little experiment using my blog. That’s risky because I don’t want Google to shoot my blog down the rankings just because I’ve been playing around with some stuff that perhaps I ought not to be playing around with.

But hey, I’ve confidence that this will either work out fairly well, or no harm will come to my blog’s Google rankings. Did I say I’m confident…? icon smile Can I Enhance My Google Rankings Using Social Media Alone? (no standard backlinking allowed)

Okay, so here’s the deal.

Most of us are aware that Google like Likes. I mean, Google like not only Likes, but they also like Tweets, they like Stumbles, they like Diggs, and the list goes on and on. Now -a-days, these social factors are seen by the search engines as good reason to rank a webpage high in search.

I’m convinced that social media is a very strong factor now in terms of gaining Google rankings. It’s fairly obvious that it works and there have been various studies to prove that it does. Apart from that though, Google and Bing representatives have admitted as much. But then, there’s nothing new here.

So here’s the game I’m about to play.

Twitter – FOLLOW ME – I Send Pointless Little Messages…

Twitter1 Twitter FOLLOW ME I Send Pointless Little Messages...Over the past few months I’ve been blog posting quite often – you may or may not have noticed.

However, at the moment I’ve embarked on some “big” projects – one is a joint venture, and the other is a go-it-alone job.

The go-it-alone project is more about testing out various social media channels to see how effective they actually are. After all, over the past 4 to 5 years that I’ve been involved in internet marketing, I’ve focused much more time on SEO and Google, and tried to escape from the social buzzy thing.

Times are changing however. Social buzzy is more important now than ever as far as the successful internet marketer is concerned. And not only that, I actually am enjoying working the social channels much more than I did before.

I’ve managed to implement a more systematic approach this time around, where before I was all over the place with it. That makes a whole lot of sense if you wish to constantly make some sort of progress with social media.

I mean, check out my Twitter numbers now – have a look near the top of the left hand side bar and you can see the number of followers I have via Twitter. Just about 3 months ago I had a few hundred followers. Now its a few thousand.

6000+ Unique Visitors in One Month – to a 10 Week Old Blog

Blogging for a living 300x199 6000+ Unique Visitors in One Month to a 10 Week Old BlogI’ve actually changed the facts a little bit in the title to fit my needs – you’ll soon understand why.

I’m an SEO guy by nature so trying to get traffic to a website by means other than by relying on SEO for Google can pose a tricky one for me.

And as you may know, I don’t generally optimize my blog, other than on-page. Very rarely have I gamed the system by “physically” obtaining backlinks to this blog.

That’s not to say I’ve never done it, but its a rareity.

Now, here’s something that disgusts me, for want of a more appropriate word.

A friend of mine emailed me today and told me that he’d attracted over 200 unique visitors to his blog in just one day.

That’s not a big deal for many folks. But, truth be told, I’m averaging close to this per day on my blog.

Check the graph just below here for my blog’s stats over the past week.

Page views tend to be around 380, which is pretty decent, and there’s a decent amount of daily return visitors. Fairly healthy stats on the whole, although I’m having to work HARD to achieve these results…

I mean – does Pat Flynn work 30 times as hard on his blog than I do on mine? No.

(As a sidenote – my return per blog visitor in cash terms is actually far higher than Pat’s is, and I have you – my blog reader – to thank for that!!).

My time investment is not leveraging the sort of results that I’d want. No where near…!

I’ve been working at this blog for over 2 years now.

My friend’s blog is around about 10 weeks old!

Yup, you read that right – his blog is about 10 weeks old and already he’s reached the same visitor count to his blog that I receive on mine.

What the ….?!!!

6,000 unique visitors this month to a blog that is only 10 weeks old (this figure is based on an average of 200+ uniques per day for the month of May).

So what’s his secret?

Using Social Media to Make a Million

A million what?

Joseph Archibalad Facebook 300x153 Using Social Media to Make a MillionQuick post today. Its Sunday/Saturday – oh, which ever day it is – its quiet – the weekends online tend to be very quiet, so that means I get time to firstly…

- be bored

… and secondly

- to fiddle around with stuff online that I don’t normally fiddle around with through the week because I’m a little more busy than I am at the weekend.

Okay, so what with all this talk about the sky falling in on us now that all high PR networks are at serious risk of being thoroughly de-indexed in and by Google, I decided to start to venture outwith my comfort zone.

In actual fact, I’ve been doing this on and off now for around about 18 months or longer – venturing outwith the realms of SEO in Google, so its got nothing at all to do with me jumping ship.

Merely a desire that has been growing within – to check out other means of making a good living online and not rely solely on the big G!

SEO in Google is not the be all and end all, and as times pass by and things change along with Googles’ algorithm manipulations, you do start to wonder about what lies “on the other side of the fence”.

And that’s why I’ve finally, finally created my own Facebook erm… page (fan page?).

My own name was not available so I had to get crafty and come up with something rather radical icon wink Using Social Media to Make a Million

http://www.facebook.com/josepharchibalddotcom

How is that for originality? LOL!

I’m telling you, all variations of Joseph Archibald have been snapped up, so I had to get creative and that’s the best I could think of. Kinda silly I know but this comes from my “passion” for Google and the dot com domain name.

I figured that if I could get a dot com Facebook domain name I would get brownie points from Google in terms of rankings. Hahahaha!!

If you do take a moment to check it out, I think you will find its already nicely populated with “stuff”. I managed to set up my feeds – blog feed to Facebook page – Tweeter feed to Facebook page, and whatever else is on there too.

I actually rather enjoyed setting up the page, believe that or not. It took a bit of fiddling around though (I don’t find Facebook overly user friendly).

What else?

Twitter!

Boy, I’ve been busy with Twitter over the past few days but not in the “normal” way. I invested in a tool that is filled with whistles and knobs and quite honestly I’m having fun with it.

Which tool you may ask has Joseph invested in?
