Why Synnd May NOT be the Service for You

Self Doubt Why Synnd May NOT be the Service for YouI’ve only been using Synnd (again) for the past 2 weeks and the doubts are beginning to creep in all over.

This is the third time I’ve used this service, and each time I come to the same conclusion.

However, this time around, I had a far better grasp as to how to actually use the thing. Its rather tricky to piece it all together, even though there are many help videos and articles.

I’m not going to go into how to use Synnd though because there are other matters which are more important to discuss right now.

First and only question to be asked…

Is Synnd a good service to use?

Answer…

YES

Now, the reason I say that even though I’m very much on the fence about continuing with the service is because with some websites/blogs, Synnd would be all you need to make a MASSIVE difference to your visitor count!

6000+ Unique Visitors in One Month – to a 10 Week Old Blog

Blogging for a living 300x199 6000+ Unique Visitors in One Month to a 10 Week Old BlogI’ve actually changed the facts a little bit in the title to fit my needs – you’ll soon understand why.

I’m an SEO guy by nature so trying to get traffic to a website by means other than by relying on SEO for Google can pose a tricky one for me.

And as you may know, I don’t generally optimize my blog, other than on-page. Very rarely have I gamed the system by “physically” obtaining backlinks to this blog.

That’s not to say I’ve never done it, but its a rareity.

Now, here’s something that disgusts me, for want of a more appropriate word.

A friend of mine emailed me today and told me that he’d attracted over 200 unique visitors to his blog in just one day.

That’s not a big deal for many folks. But, truth be told, I’m averaging close to this per day on my blog.

Check the graph just below here for my blog’s stats over the past week.

Page views tend to be around 380, which is pretty decent, and there’s a decent amount of daily return visitors. Fairly healthy stats on the whole, although I’m having to work HARD to achieve these results…

I mean – does Pat Flynn work 30 times as hard on his blog than I do on mine? No.

(As a sidenote – my return per blog visitor in cash terms is actually far higher than Pat’s is, and I have you – my blog reader – to thank for that!!).

My time investment is not leveraging the sort of results that I’d want. No where near…!

I’ve been working at this blog for over 2 years now.

My friend’s blog is around about 10 weeks old!

Yup, you read that right – his blog is about 10 weeks old and already he’s reached the same visitor count to his blog that I receive on mine.

What the ….?!!!

6,000 unique visitors this month to a blog that is only 10 weeks old (this figure is based on an average of 200+ uniques per day for the month of May).

So what’s his secret?

SYNND – Early Thoughts About this Social Networking Service and a Chat With PAT FLYNN

Synnd 300x112 SYNND Early Thoughts About this Social Networking Service and a Chat With PAT FLYNN

Just before I get into the meat and potatoes of today’s post, I was discussing some stuff with Pat Flynn today, not only about his new blog post, which is very good and well worth a read (link to that at the bottom of my post), but also about the fact that his Security Guard Training site has been outranked for the main keyword term, by some chappie who then had the tenacity to come over and leave a comment about his accomplishments on the Backlink Strategy that Works post.

As most of you know, Pat used my “40 Days Challenge” thread on the Warriors to go on and rank his site at numero uno for the main keyword phrase he was targeting. And all credit to Pat – he’s been thoroughly instrumental in selling my eBook for me as an affiliate.

But quite honestly, my eBook is worth 20 times as much in comparison to very many of the utter BS info products that are out there and that sell day after day, week after week for a much higher price tag than my eBook is. Check out this post for an example of what I mean…

I don’t know why but I’ve only got 6 Tweets on that post. There should be hundreds – its only fair to be letting other people know what’s happening in the internet marketing industry. Please take the time to click the link above, then Tweet the post, or mention it in some other way care of social media – on your own blog perhaps.

Back to Pat Flynn’s security guard training site…

Now, seems to me, when I look at the site that is now ranking in top spot in Google, its top heavy with Facebook Likes. Have a look and see what you think, and let me know what you think… I value your opinion!

(I don’t want to link to the site, hence the “DOT”. Please replace the word “DOT” with a . ).

Anyways, if you want to be privvy to my “private” chats with Patrick Flynn (and a heck of a lot more besides), then you have to join me on Twitter.

(I pay a dollar to everyone who joins me on Twitter as the incentive – yeah, as if!)

 SYNND

A quick word on Synnd. If you are thinking about using Synnd to boost your niche sites social appeal, and thus rankings in Google – think again.

As you would sort of expect (I say sort of, because many social tools that are around, accept “niche sites” perfectly happily as part of a social campaign), niche sites are not generally attractive to social chatter. They don’t have the same draw that say – a good blog would have.

What do I mean when I say “niche site”?

I don’t have a good phrase to encompass the meaning, but generally it would be a site that is geared first and foremost to making money.

AdSense focused sites spring to mind, and affiliate sites “can” fit into that mold, more so “thin” affiliate sites where the content is second rate and its pretty clear that the site has been set up to make money and not so much about offering quality information to the visitor.

That’s thoroughly debatable however, so please don’t take this as face value. I know my own niche sites are very well written and the content is thoroughly pertinent to many of the visitors.

When I tried to add a number of niche sites to my Synnd account yesterday, most of them were rejected, although not in entirety.
