Christmas Sales Online in Early November

With 5 pay days already gone in November, I would like to comment that I am NOT seeing anything of the Christmas spend rush. In fact, my eBay earnings have been the lowest so far this month than they have been for many, many months. And its not just due to the fact that Google have been playing games with my rankings.

eBay visitor count has been reasonable (albeit it would be far better if Google had not dumped a number of my sites from their previous rankings).

But although I’ve been complaining a bit – as you do – about my really poor income so far, I’ve also been refocusing on some stuff which is well and truly away from eBay and has nothing to do with cashing in on the Christmas spend.

.
I set up a couple of sites… hmmmm… about 7 weeks ago I think. One is my JV in the fitness world (which has a lovely pink background colour, lol) and the other is based on selling a Clickbank product that pays out $50 US a go. Nice commission that is!

Well, I’ve not been working on ranking the fitness site for the previous week because there is nothing for sale on it yet, and its not monetized in any way. However, the two keyword phrases I have been gently working on are doing nicely in Google SERP. Both are ranking top 20 and I only used Build My Rank to get them there. Build My Rank is a better quality “tool” than is Blog Blueprint - by quite a long way, but its labour-intensive and may not suit everyone. [Read more...]

Has My Best Performing Website Been Sandboxed – What to Do?

IMG 0107 Has My Best Performing Website Been Sandboxed What to Do?I was going to write a post a bit earlier this morning (I was up at 2am and wrote a spun article for the first time in 3 months – I’d forgotten how much I don’t enjoy writing spun articles). But, I got this new piece of software that I want to use for backlinking and it takes quite a bit of setting up.

(the image here is of Damai, which over-looks the South China Sea. Its where we were for the day yesterday – a lovely place to relax and unwind, and the waters are so warm)

Its the sort that you have to fill in captcha thingies and POP3 account details and all that palava. And I get all frustrated with these sort of things and tend to avoid purchasing into such backlinking tools altogether. Well, this is an article submitter thingy and I’ve heard some good things about it, so I thought I would take the plunge regardless. Even though many of these things only get about 60 percent or so success rate at submitting. And I can’t go tweaking the settings for more submission success because I’m too stupid for doing that!

But I’ve given up with it for now – the POP3 stuff that is, and had to send the software owner an email for help with this POP3 nonsense because I can’t work it out to save myself. Thus time for me to write a post for the blog. (If anyone knows anything about setting up POP3 settings for Hostgator email accounts, do please let me know, thank you!).

.

Damn, if I could swear right now I would. No, not about the POP3 palava, but about what’s going down with one of my websites, and thus my monthly income, both on eBay and on AdSense.

I’ve invested quite a bit of money in backlinking tools this month and seeing some interesting results from the past 3 weeks of using them. Not all good, I may add!

Is September Being Kind to Your Internet Marketing Efforts?

If you rely on online product sales – meaning physical (tangible) products from the likes of Amazon, eBay and Commission Junction, and you are having a real torrid time of it in the current month of September, then try not to worry too much – I think it could be across the board and its not because you are doing anything “wrong”.

I can’t say this is the worst month of the year for tangible product sales – January always takes that accolade by quite a long way. But the way things are shaping up for me its possibly going to be the second worst month.

I had a bit of a bad moment a few days back when one of my 2 Hostgator accounts was suspended. They explained that this was due to some of my sites being guilty of “over-use on the shared server”. I’ve had this happen a few times before, actually, and even though have tried to remedy it a number of times – with the help of the staff at Hostgator, its still something of an ongoing issue.

Anyhow, the account was suspended for about 8 hours, and due to the fact that this account holds most of my better performing eBay websites, it had a large negative effect on traffic flow and thus on income.

Income Stats From My Internet Marketing | August 2010

To those new to the blog, the stats here are for internet marketing alone and will never include figures for SEO consultancy or for coaching for anything similar. The main point here is to make it clear that anyone can make at least a half decent income from internet marketing. Its early days for me really, considering the fact that 10 months ago I was earning about a quarter of what I do today from internet marketing. Therefore, the potential to be earning so much more in the coming months is very good indeed. We’ll see…

.

A bit of a mixed bag was the month of August, and I could really go overboard and complain about this and that, but what’s the point? As internet marketers, we all go through very similar ups and downs time and time again. And certainly for me, the month of August has been very much one of ups and downs!

My main “issue” has been eBay. The month started off really well and then went kinda dry mid month. That’s very normal. But the thing is it never really picked up at the end, which is totally unusual. Let’s get down to the stats and my tales of woe icon smile Income Stats From My Internet Marketing | August 2010

I’ll use the same format as last month, and I shall use the same US dollar to UK pound exchange rate as previously (my AdSense and eBay is worked in pounds sterling), to give the stats some parity. That is £1 = $1.58 US. Its actually gone done a little but not enough have much over-all affect.

90 Day Internet Marketing Challenge: Week 4 by Oscar Del Ben

Hello everyone, it’s time for me to give a new update on my internet marketing experiment. I’ve spent last week out of town without my computer and so I couldn’t work on my internet marketing stuff. For that reason, today I’m only going to talk about overall rankings and my intentions for the future (more exciting stuff!).

.

My Market Samurai page is suffering from some Google dance apparently. Two days ago and yesterday I was ranking 2nd for the keyword “market samurai review”, but today it’s showing up in the 9th position. Despite that, I’m finally ranking 7th for “market samurai”, and I’ve been maintaining this ranking for a few days. I suspect that as I’ll start building more back-links this week my overall ranking will increase again.

Help! Google has SANDBOXED (supplementals) my Web Site!

I’m sure we have talked about this before on SEO Tips, although it may have been on the Warrior Forum. Nevertheless, its something that affects almost all of us with regards our careers online and that is the Sandboxing or supplemental pages effect by Google.

I gotta say that even now its not entirely clear what this is all about – some experts say one thing, some experts say something a  little different. And then Matt Cutts the Google rep/spokesman says “stuff” but you could argue that this “stuff” is not exactly 100% enlightening. Which of course is thoroughly typical for secretive Google!

-

Nevertheless, I received an email this morning from a gentleman who found my profile on the Warrior F and the email goes as follows (some details such as domain name and personal name are changed for privacy reasons):

Problem:

Hi Joseph

I’m John Franks from W Forum. Couldn’t PM yet with limited posts so i thought to drop you an email. Im facing a problem right now with my website.

Its www.hiddenforprivacy.com  which has around 500 + backlinks from good PR blogs and websites. The problem is that my posts are not getting indexed in Google.

As you can see… Google is crawling my website and it is updating the content im posting you can see in the description if you search. But the post is not indexed. Im losing a great deal of traffic because of it. My Alexa rank reached to 390K at max and then this thing happened {Alexa is now down to 700k+}. Can u tell me what the problem seems to be?
