What’s Holding You Back from Self-Publishing on Kindle? YOU CAN Do It!!

J K Rowling 300x241 Whats Holding You Back from Self Publishing on Kindle? YOU CAN Do It!!

I’m just writing this post off the top of my head (so the post is probably full of grammatical errors – you’ll see why I mention that in a moment), and I’m writing it because I’m fully aware that there are many potentially budding Amazon Kindle eBook writers within the internet marketing arena.

After all, publishing on Kindle is a “relatively” easy way to make money – it potentially can become a way to make a vast PASSIVE income for years and years to come.

And there’s no reliance on Google tactics, which will of course come as a huge relief to many marketers who’ve seen their webpages repeatedly dumped by the ever-changing Google search algorithms.

Now, this is not my typical blog post. Its actually WAY out there. But there’s good reason…

I’ve been reading quite a bit about publishing – self-publishing on Kindle. In fact, I’ve been reading quite a lot about all sorts of ways to earn a very good living by working (or not “working” as the case may be, because a lot of online income models are relatively passive). Let me relate to you a few pointers that I’ve learned for myself, and quite honestly – came as a real breath of fresh air to me too!

If you think you can’t write a book then think again!

And I don’t necessarily mean a book of non-fiction.

You don’t have to write how-to books to make a seriously huge income by self-publishing on Kindle – you can write fiction instead.

I see you shaking your head. You don’t believe that you can do that. After all, you are far from a literary genius, and you have to be a literary genius and have an amazing amount of creativity to be able to write fiction successfully.

Let me relate to you a story at this point. And I’ll try not to bore the pants off of ya! icon smile Whats Holding You Back from Self Publishing on Kindle? YOU CAN Do It!!

When I was a kid – between the ages of about… 8 and 12… I had this idea that I wanted to become a writer of fiction books.

In fact, when I was 10 years old, I entered a fiction writing competition and won top prize. The main prize was to have my story read out on national radio.

I never heard it being read out, but I was told it was read out, and apparently – potentially – there were millions of listeners. It was BBC Radio 4 which broadcasts in the UK, and abroad as the World Service (or part of the World Service anyhow).

I’ll tell you exactly why I was good at writing fiction in those days – at the age of 10. My sense of creativity had absolutely NO BOUNDS! I was a child and I thought exactly as a child thinks – BOUNDLESS LEVELS OF CREATIVITY!!

But, when I graduated to secondary school, things became much more systematic. English literature classes were structured in such a way as to knock all potential creativity out of you in order that you followed “their” system.

I “graduated” from my English literature class with a C minus, which quite frankly is a thoroughly mediocre result indeed.

And the reason why I graduated with such a pathetically low scoring was that I was being taught to write like a machine, and was being taught to avoid self-creativity at all costs. And there ended my boundless sense of creativity, which quite frankly had the effect of making me a thoroughly mediocre student!

Affiliate Schemes that offer LIFETIME Commissions

I received an email today from Mike Long (having signed up to his autoresponder after reading his recent post which I’ve discussed here – top notch post by the way, so if you’ve not yet read it, I urge you to do so).

Lifetime Commissions Affiliate Directory 300x73 Affiliate Schemes that offer LIFETIME Commissions

To get to the nuts and bolts, he talks about the fact that very many folks now rely on AdSense to make all their online income. Personally, I don’t think that a wise idea as its an “all eggs in one basket” scenario that really can come crashing down around you in a short space of time.

Having said that, there are a few online marketers who continue to reap vast rewards from AdSense alone. Safe to say – I’m not one of them!

He also mentions affiliate programs that offer a short window of opportunity to gain an affiliate commission.

Those are the aff programs whereby if your site visitor clicks on your affiliate link, the visitor receives a short term cookie in their browser.

What this does is allows you to receive a commission if your site visitor who’s clicked your aff link does go ahead and buy the product on offer, within a certain time frame.

Often those time frames are thoroughly limited – 30 days, 7 days, and even as little as 24 hours.

As most of us know, if we’ve been doing affiliate marketing for any length of time, many folks tend to sit on the fence for a while and mull over purchasing a product or not.

The only time this tends to change and folks actually do to take action immediately is when there’s a “pressure point“.

What do I mean by “pressure point”?

“Pressure point” means that there’s an up-coming event which puts some form of pressure on the prospective buyer to actually go ahead and make the purchase with no sitting on the fence debating whether they should or should not invest their money.

Examples of “pressure points”…

1. Christmas is an excellent example. If you have some relatively Christmas focused websites – sites that sell products which are appropriate to Christmas sales in one way or another, then come late November and December, providing you are seeing half decent traffic to your website, you should do very nicely, simply because of the fact that folks HAVE to buy Christmas presents.

2. Halloween. Halloween has proven to be an excellent “pressure point” time of the year. Very many parents, particularly so in the US I would say, feel pressure to purchase Halloween focused products for their kids. Now whether that’s in order to out-compete the neighbours and ensure that their kids are best equipped with the most fancy outfits for Halloween, I really don’t know. Most probably it is. And that pressure is enough to get them to dip deeply into their pockets and spend, spend, spend!

3. Birthdays. Birthdays of friends and family. Folks are generally compelled to purchase something for families and/or friends. This is why gaining rankings for “birthday” related keyword phrases is a very solid consideration to make – you can do very well in birthday niches, simply due to the “pressure point” kicking in.

4. Valentines Day. Yuck! So commercialised these days, where before – when I was a kid, you simply bought a fancy card and wrote some silly poetry inside – Roses are Red, Violets are Blue…. Not any longer! These days, its huge business. Why so? Because if you don’t get your girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/husband a Valentines Day gift of some sort, then you are in the dog house, LOL!

Interview with George Palmer Creator of DigitalDeliveryApp.com an Alternative to Clickbank!

Digital Delivery App Benefits 153x300 Interview with George Palmer Creator of DigitalDeliveryApp.com an Alternative to Clickbank!(If you still are having problems seeing the posts on the homepage, do let me know thanks. I’m currently deactivating plugins to try to figure out the issue).

I was fortunate enough to be able to spend some time discussing with George Palmer his relatively recent creation – Digital Deliver App. To put things in some perspective here about what this product actually does – it can be used an alternative to the likes of Clickbank, eJunkie, PayDotCom to name but three of the bigger information and software product delivery sites, or indeed it can be used in addition to those sites to enhance the user experience (by a digital mile!).

Now, to be honest, I’m always a bit hesitant when looking into product delivery. I had a terrible time setting up the Warriors Special Offer for my first product – the Warrior Forum 40 Day Challenge. And then, more recently, I had all sorts of issues when I then moved the eBook over to Clickbank. This is not the first time I’ve tried to use Clickbank as a vendor actually – the first time I gave up in frustration. And I’ve also tried eJunkie quite some time ago, but found that too has its own set of complex issues to work around (it may have improved since…).
