My Life Crashed…

bamboo hut on the beach in the Philippines My Life Crashed...In a sense, this post is a re-intro to my blog since I’ve been AWOL for weeks now.

There have been some big changes taking place in my offline (and online) life, which is why I’ve been absent. What’s more, over the past week or so, I’ve been pretty much unable to get online, which certainly does not aid my business. Fortunately that issue is now remedied.

I don’t want to go into too much detail right now but put it this way – I’ve spent the last 3 years living in Kuching, in Malaysia, having left the shores of the United Kingdom. Well, that now is no longer the case. I have parted company with Malaysia, and now want to move onwards in pursuit of fulfilling the “next” stages of my dream – the internet marketing dream that is.

What does this mean?

Well, slowly but surely, I’ve come to the realization that making more and more money online simply puts more and more pressure on my butt to make more and more money online. Its like a vicious circle.

You start out by making 10 bucks in a month.

You raise that up to making 100 bucks a month.

Then you are looking at 10 bucks per day.

Then, up to 30 bucks a day and starting to approach a full time online income. Seems like a whole lotta fun at this stage and things are getting exciting!

50 bucks a day comes and goes…

80 bucks a day…

100 bucks per day – oh yeah baby!!

150 bucks a day…

200 a day… on and on and on and on…

Being More by Doing What You Love

Wealthy Life in Monaco 300x225 Being More by Doing What You Love I want to touch on this subject once more – minimalism – because its troubling me, and if I’m honest with myself – its something that has troubled me for many many years.

I don’t want to bore the pants off you. After all, this blog was originally set up as a “make money online” type blog. But I did change the domain name over from Affordable SEO Tips to the current name because I wanted to discuss much more about life in general.

After all, some people dream about achieving a life style like mine and I can understand exactly why – my life is a MASSIVE improvement on what it was and has been over the past 10 years or so. I have a great life now.

No boss to answer to other than myself (I’m a hard task-master however). No precise time schedule when I have to “work”. Living in the tropics of Malaysia brings with it a sense of joy and fulfilment on a daily basis. And yes – I can sit by the outdoor pool every day of the week whilst I work online. I doubt I’d get much done and I’d sweat me knackers off, but I’m sure you understand the principle.

But there is still something that bothers me most days – this constant push for more.

Standing Out in an Overcrowded Niche – Minimalism

The Minimalists 300x194 Standing Out in an Overcrowded Niche MinimalismI was going to take the day off from blog post writing. Yesterday’s post must have taken it out of me, LOL!

But, something happened that I want to relate to you here and now.

I listened to the podcast on Pat’s blog (standing out in an overcrowded niche) this morning about minimalism.

“Yeah, yeah”, I thought, “so what’s new?”.

I’m not much of a fan of podcasts really and when I think about the reason why, maybe its because they are NOT minimalist. They can be very cluttered. Retrieving information that you need after you’ve listened to a one hour long podcast can be daunting.

Whereas, if I read a post I’d probably be able to pinpoint the information I really need within seconds after reading through to the end of the post.

Well anyways, each to their own, right?

So, back to what I was saying.

I decided to pop on by the site that belongs to the guys who were on the podcast and check it out for myself. Today has been more a day of reading and reflecting for me, so checking theminimalists.com site would fit that mold.

Here was me thinking I’d spend a couple of mins on it and then click the back button.

You know the score very yourself.

We hear so much about “minimilsm” these days. Minimilsm in order to be a more “wholesome” person, I think.

Then I read a post on the blog (which I tweeted too – you can follow me on Twitter at @josepharch) about how Joshua had gotten rid of his television, had no internet at home, stopped buying “stuff” for a whole year, changed his diet completely and then started to exercise regularly, and now was about to dump his cell phone too.

OMG!

The sky is falling in!

Do You Even Care?

Off topic entirely today!

Couple of nights ago, I watched a movie that really made a big impact on me – most probably long term impact, and it really made me wonder about what most of us “normal” folks really value within our day to day lives.

We tend to value money over almost everything else – at least at various times in our lives.

But when you see movies like this particular one, which is based on true circumstances, then you really start to wonder about your own values. You begin to question yourself – perhaps in a way you’ve never ever done before, no matter what age you are.

What’s the name of the movie?

Machine Gun Preacher with Gerrard Butler playing the main character – Sam Childers.

Now, why mention this movie?

Well, oddly enough, I just had a gander on Facebook just to pass a couple of minutes and I came across a video which pertains to the same movie I watched merely 24 hours previously. Odd, to say the least!

Don’t get me wrong here – I’m not going to tell you I’ve just “had my calling in life” or its a message from our good Lord (and no, I’m not talking about Google here either). I’m not a Christian or I don’t focus on any other faith. My faith in Google is about as good as it gets, and I lost that years ago.

So no, not that.

Nevertheless, I do feel a compulsion to take some form of action. And that’s what I’ve done here.

I sometimes wonder why I feel so helpless to do more in the world to “make it a better place”. Maybe its best simply to stick my head in the sand like most other people have a tendency to do. And fact of the matter is, I do indeed do that most of the time. Shame on me!

But not today. I can’t. The least I can do is to write up this blog post and share the video below with you. Be sure to spread the word about this utter abomination, even if its simply to tell your kids or to let your friends know its happening.

Now watch the video below to learn more, thank you!

Time Management – I’m USELESS at Time Management And I Can’t Handle Stress Either!

There – the cat’s out of the bag – I’m USELESS!

If you’ve been involved in running any sort of business – be that online or offline, then time management is a thoroughly, very, extraordinarily important factor to factor into your business. And dealing with the stresses involved with time management is part and parcel of the game play.

And no doubt you’ve already read up on how to manage your time more effectively. And very probably or maybe I should say – very possibly, you’ve failed to implement what you’ve learned.

After all, not only are there thousands of blog posts about managing your time better and handling stress in a more appropriate manner, but there are countless books about the topic/s too.
Yes, initially you implement some of what you learn, but slowly and surely your time management fades to what it was before. Which can become unmanageable. And unmanageable tends to mean STRESSED OUT!
To be honest, I’m rubbish at managing my own time and I’m rotten at dealing with the stress which comes from poor time management, but the key here is that I surely know about it. I’m rotten and useless – there, I said it all over!

And what’s even more, I can read all about time management principles till I’m rosy blue in the face, but I still rarely implement any tools or any methods to manage it better.

Creating a Road Map for SUCCESS in 2012

Apologies for not posting on my blog for quite some time. As mentioned before a number of times, I only post when I’ve got something worthy to say, otherwise – what’s the point – its all hot air. I’m not a hot air sorta guy, except after a few pints of Guiness etc icon wink Creating a Road Map for SUCCESS in 2012

So what’s going down in the Archibald camp? Anything worthy of mention?

Well, the hard-drive on my newest laptop was trashed by my cat knocking my laptop to the ground. Fortunately because I use Dropbox (free account) almost all of my more important documents etc were perfectly fine. Although all my photographs of Asia over the past 4 years have been deleted. Nothing much to worry about – I’ll just take some more icon wink Creating a Road Map for SUCCESS in 2012
With regards to online business, first up – I’m just about to trial a tool that has been offered to me for exactly that – trialling. Its not exactly a tool as such, but rather a backlinking system, but its a paid for service, so that should be very interesting. Just need to finalise a new site I’ve put together strictly for this purpose, and we’ll be off to the races. I’ll let you know how that’s progressing as and when I do see some progress.

Next, I’ve been getting creative. I talked about doing this a short time ago. My philosophy for the year 2012 is to get more creative.

If you are new to this game of internet marketing, getting creative is not at all easy, as you have to learn “the system” well enough, to then start playing around with some theories. But trust me – as you progress and you spend more and more time on your online busines (internet marketing, that is), you do enhance your capabilities to “think outside of the typical box” as the saying goes. I used to try to do that a lot, but really it does not necessarily come easily and it seems that experience is the key.

So, I’ve now actually come up with 3 (or arguably 4) different game plans for which I may very well end up creating information products for, during this coming year. 3 of those are in full swing now (not the info product, but the actual implementation of the system), but there’s a whole lotta testing and trialing to be done on 2 of them, whilst the other – well, I may even be able to launch a product on that “system” by April. And right now, its looking good!
