I always entitle these sort of articles as “review”. I guess its more because poeple recognize and relate to the word. However, this is not so much a review as an over-view or a chat with you about HostGator.
I’ve been using HostGator for about 6 months now, and have 2 accounts with them, simply because I have a lot of websites, and some of those sites are heavy with images.
Now I’m not going to talk about pricing and packages and how HostGator is so much better than any other webhosting company. Its very possible you already have heard of HostGator and you already know that they are very highly regarded within the internet world.
Let me highlight some of the issues I had with my previous hosting company, whom I spent about 20 months with. Then compare HostGator from this point of view.
*
1. My previous host’s support was relatively lack-a-dasical. I’d shoot off an email desperate to get an answer within say, 4 hours. Nope, often it would take around 20 hours and longer. Not good enough!
If I have a problem I need it solved faster than that! And although normally that would mean paying top dollar, strangely enough, with regards web hosting, this is no longer the case. Even though you are paying a few bucks a month for the rental fees of a little bit of server space, you can and do expect fast response to any queries you make to your hosting company.

2. Support again – fairly often I would receive a response that would put me no further forward to where I was before. And then if I replied to this, I would get some other member of staff asking me what the problem was. Doh! Where is the follow-up procedure?
Imagine you are 10 emails down the road with some fairly minor problem and you’ve been pinging emails back and forth, seemingly making some progress. And then, out of the blue, you get an email that asks “so, where is the problem?”.
Soooo frustrating! I would often send an email back saying something like “check the emails from start to finish and then get back to me afterwards , you d..b cl..z!”. You get my point.

Otherwise there were not many other issues really, but these two support-related problems were enough to make me fed up and move over to HostGator. Plus, it turns out, HostGator is cheaper than my previous host, even though the package they were offering me was equivalent to that of the previous hosting company. Price almost always plays a big factor when we are looking at hosting companies and I would suggest that HostGator are one of the most competitive on price, and on support too.
So, talking about webhosting support – HostGator support?
Good, very good… Prompt (tend to be), courteous, knowledgeable without a doubt, helpful for sure, price is great… hmm what else can I say here?
I can see exactly why they have been so highly recommended by so many. They cut to the chase of any problem you’ve got, generally very promptly too, and all is then well with the world, once again.
What more could you ask for, really?
