Playing the Google Search Game – Guest Post on Pat Flynn’s Blog is Live

Pat Flynn Guest Post 300x161 Playing the Google Search Game Guest Post on Pat Flynns Blog is LiveFor all those who have an interest, the authoritarian blog guest posting experiment which I wrote about in this post…

 http://www.josepharchibald.com/increase-blog-visitors-experiment

…has finally got lift(ed) off after Pat Flynn came over and invited me to write up a guest post for his blog a couple of weeks ago.

50 comments so far after 12 hours (half of which are my own replies – so you can imagine the potential “work load” in writing such a guest post – its not merely coming up with a good idea to base your article upon, and its obviously not just about the research side of things either (although I’m not too great at the research side of things – I tend to just write and let my thoughts flow very freely (hence perhaps I would never ever make a good scientist – is what my university thesis supervisor used to tell me icon wink Playing the Google Search Game Guest Post on Pat Flynns Blog is Live )).

To have a read of the article, which is thoroughly relevant and related to SEO and internet marketing, please click on this link…

http://www.smartpassiveincome.com/how-to-rank-high-in-google/

The actual name of the article is “Playing the Google Search Game – How to Rank High in Google“.

Its interesting to note that the link to the article misses out the whole of the first part of the name (even though that term is now ranking in Google very nicely – see below)… But in essence – the first part of the name is more to stir interest from the potential reader, where the latter part is more for search engine rankability, which because its Pat’s blog – you never know, even such a highly competitive phrase as that may indeed gain some high rankings in Google simply due to the vast amount of blog readers Pat gets. We’ll see… (“how to rank high in Google” I am seeing at 41st in Scroogle Scraper!).

(I see in my Scroogle that the term “playing the Google search game” is already ranking 3rd in Google – dancing a little as its now showing 4th in the image below, and up to 2nd within a 24 hour period after publication).

Comments are of course always welcome, and please don’t forget to Tweet or Facebook mention (or whatever) the post, thanks indeed!

Postscript – I’d appreciate continued feedback about my own blog not showing the home page. I’ve deactivated all recent WP plugins, so I’m hoping that the home page is showing up without any continuing techie hitches. If you cannot still see the home page, please let me know, thank you!

Pat Flynn Invite to Guest Post

four hour workweek 300x300 Pat Flynn Invite to Guest PostJust before I set off on my 30 + hour – half the way round the world trip from the shores of the United Kingdom back to my current home of Kuching in Sarawak Malaysia, I thought I would update the blog here as to progress over the past few days.

The guest blog post experiment I discussed in a recent article has now swung into action I’m happy to tell you. Pat Flynn (who needs no introduction to anyone who has been blogging for any length of time) visited my blog just the other day and saw that article and then promptly emailed me to ask if I would guest post for his blog. Well, of course – I’d be insane to turn down the opportunity! Actually, Pat was on my list of potentials anyhow, so to actually get asked to write for him is a real motivator as well as an honour! As such, I’ve carved out the fundamentals to that guest post and this should be completed and emailed to Pat by week end, once I get my life sorted out over in Kuching.

How to Increase Blog Visitors – an Experiment

alexastats 264x300 How to Increase Blog Visitors an Experiment

Alexa statistics for JosephArchibald.com showing visitor count increase on the date of the blog move form AffordableSEOtipsandtricks.com and also "traffic" rank per country

I’m going to do a little experiment over the next few weeks and I hope you will follow along with me on this one – it could be quite good fun and it should be very interesting to see the results.

So what is this experiment going to be?

I’m going to (try to) get some guest blog posts done and dusted and in the bag! (Link to the first guest post info is here… Pat Flynn). Say what?

I know – this has nothing (or at least in this case) to do with SEO, for which maybe I’ve earned my main stripes. But what with this goog mass set of algo changes which appears to be ravaging a whole lot of internet marketer’s previous rankings, its time to turn one’s (or at least for me and for this blog) attentions to other methods of achieving exposure on the internet by generating more visitors.

.

This idea is nothing new really. I’ve been spouting forth about re-assessing my own IM business for the past few months. Well, this is one step that I’m intent on taking, and I’m fairly sure that the desired results are going to be very well worth the effort!

.

Now get this fact. This blog was originally an SEO type of blog, but I did very little SEO work on it. Sounds odd, I know, but you could argue that its silly to spend months and months trying to rank for keyword phrases that bring in a couple of thousand searches in Google per month. After all, when you are up against SEO types who know their Google SEO really well and you are all fighting for the same scraps with regards to ranking for the same keywords – well, its not such a wise idea, is it? I ain’t going to be busting my butt on doing that – its just not a very sensible approach and not time or effort well invested.

This blog currently gets just over 15% of its monthly visitors from the search engines. Let me see if I can drum up some stats here for you to view.

GOOGLE, Yahoo!, Bing.com | READ THIS – this affects YOU!

I just read this really good email I received a short time ago today about Google and Yahoo and Bing and Mayday algorithm change. Don’t worry I will not bore you with the whole thing and I’m not going to bleat on about this Google algo for too much longer. Its very, very important that we all understand it however, as it could totally make or totally break our online ventures! Make no mistake about that, please.

-

Okay, the main points were this in very brief format…

- Yahoo is going the way of Bing.com with regards to SERP results.

Yahoo loves loadsa backlinks of all sorts and you tend to rank high in Yahoo by getting ‘em.

Apparently (I say apparently as I have no idea what Bing.com likes when it comes to ranking with them – all I do know is that I love the images they have on their search page!!) Bing likes ‘logical’ navigation menus and tabs that are crystal clear. Well, Yahoo! is gonna be going for a similar tact in the coming weeks and months (and please do not ask me to explain what ‘logical’ means here – logic defies me!).

More about this in times to come.

Notice the new upgrade to WordPress.org today? WordPress 3.0 is now out – its called “Thelonius“. Its got some rather hefty changes too, in comparison to any release made up till now. We’ll be talking more about this upgrade over the coming weeks – should be fun, I think!

On to the Google algorithm change, and this is very interesting and what I read from a highly reliable source it must be added!

This short list is about building your backlinks that is almost totally sure to have Google enjoying your every move!

Thus if you have anything remotely SEO to say – be that World Cup 2010, be that about Barbie Doll, be that about Chihuahua apparel, or be that how yo’ mama makes yo’ porridge in da morning, then so be it! I wanna hear from you!

There are no other particular requirements other than you are able to get your message across in English and in a succinct manner. If you want an example of how to be succinct with your writing, then just check out any of my posts on the blog here. On second thoughts, maybe that’s unwise as I like to blether, or ‘yak’ as I term this process of imparting information. Yakety yak!

How to – Consider YOUR Backlinking Strategy!

Here’s a thing for you to chew over…

Check out the number of links that are now showing up coming back to this blog in the Yahoo! Search Engine. If you don’t know how to do that, then you can download the superb SEO Quake free browser add-on from this link here…

www.seoquake.com/

That is for the Firefox search platform and will allow you to check at a glance things like the amount of backlinks to your website (not the whole truth but much closer to the truth than you would get from “hush hush Google big secret is best!”). It allows you to check a whole series of stats – Google PR, Alexa ranking, amount of pages indexed etc. I will not bore you…

-

There is also a similar free add-on for Google Chrome called iPagerank which you can download from here…

www.ipagerank.org/

I don’t use Chrome yet because I’m old fashioned and stuck in my ways! I once was young but I was even then old fashioned and stuck in my ways.
