It’s time for another update on my 90 day internet marketing challenge. This week I was busy because I moved to Madrid but I still managed to work on my internet marketing stuff. I’m really happy about the results so far.

Last week I mentioned that I was considering entering a new niche, and we finally bought the domain and began our work. I say we because we’re now a team of three. We only work for a few hours each week but this way I can still get other stuff done. Once we will be making enough money we will probably outsource most tasks so that we can focus on the higher picture.

What I’ve done this week

This week I worked exclusively on creating backlinks (15 minutes per day). Each day I would create 10 backlinks for my get better grades website and 6 for my Market Samurai review page. This was all routine work but it doesn’t take much time for me as I have a lot of spun content already available.

I also prepared 250 unique 600-word articles for my new niche as well as 250 snippets of text to use with Blog-Blueprint. This took us less than two hours with the Best Spinner.

.

Overall ranking

For my Market Samurai page I’m stable at position 2 for “Market Samurai review”, and 10 for “market samurai”. I will continue to build backlinks for this page. The traffic so far is not exceptional, but this week I received 46 visits from Market Samurai related keywords, now I only have to a/b test to improve conversion ratings.

.

My grades website is finally out of the sandbox. I’m ranking 9 for “how to get good grades”, 27 for “improve grades”, and 69 for “how to get better grades”. Not what I’d like to see though.

.

Lesson learned

So far I’ve used Blog -Blueprint almost exclusively for building backlinks, yet when I checked my backlinks from Yahoo they were mostly from Unique Article Wizard. I’m going to experiment with some vanilla websites in order to see the effects of both of them when used alone and in combination.

Another thing that I learned is that having a dynamic website helps a lot. For my grades website I have 4 static pages, yet I’m having difficulty on ranking those pages. I talked with some fellow internet marketers and analyzed a few top ranking websites and they’re all using dynamic platforms like WordPress. I think Google loves to see a website that is updated every once in a while.

.

Plans for the future

This week I’m going to start working on my new niche, which is around green products. I also want to setup some experiments to see the effects of both Blog-Blueprint and Unique Article Wizard on new websites.

Hi Oscar -

I see you’re using UAW directly on your money site? Are you doing a comparison of doing that, vs using UAW on your “anchor” articles per Jo’s method?

I’ve just started using BB on some sites. I also purchase the Article Blueprint (AB) which functions like UAW since it was only $10 more per month so I figured, what the heck. I’m going to do the following tests on several niche sites that I have that aren’t ranking well…

1) BB only
2) AB (direct)
3) AB (indirect)
4) AB (direct) + BB
5) AB (indirect) + BB

Where direct means links straight to the money site, and indirect is only to anchor articles on article directories. Some of these sites have links from TKAP’s Postrunner system already and some other links, and I’m going to test it on sites that aren’t ranking well at all right now (below 100 for the KW according to Market Samurai tests).

I’m already using BB exclusively on sites that I have on 1st page, some in top 3 slots, seeing if that alone can get me to #1.

I’ll let you know how it goes, if you’re interested.

P.S. Yo Jo!

Hi DH, I’ve just started a similar experiment yesterday on my personal website at http://blog.oscardelben.com/ and I’ll know in a little while :)

Your getting me interested in UAW and BB.. I just started a brand new niche site, promoting a clickbank product. I wont be using any of these tools yet since I am literally broke! Once I start to make some cash though I will invest in some of these tools to make life easier… I am wondering have you done any other backlinking besides AB and BB?

Hi Matt, I think that you’re doing the right thing by not buying these tools until you’re making enough money. My advice is to create some great content and then promote it through youtube videos and stuff like that. Also try searching for free backlinks here and there and submit your stuff to social media.

Yup, agree with what Oscar says here Matt.

Its gonna be real tough to get ranking by churning out masses of articles and doing hand submissions or searching around for a ton of blogs to post on to get a decent quality link back in return. So I feel that there are one of two ways to go here.

1. Knuckle down and get on with it and work the proverbial butt off – because you hate the idea of having a JOB so much that there is simply no alternative.

2. Or, get a part time job which will boost your current income (as small as that may be), cut any current unecessary costs, and then you’ll have some extra cash to plough into your online business.

For me it was the latter of the two options, even though I rarely took much pleasure from the PT job. But I knew that without it and without that bit of extra income, I may never succeed in what I truly and fully wanted to ahieve in my life!

Hope you are well and I wish you success!

Hey Joseph, reading through your great book here. Have a question for you. It looks like your 40 day challenge seems to involve quite a few bits of the Blog Blueprint software. Now I have similar tools such as the UAW, thebestspinner, but not BB. Do you believe that it is an essential ingredient to this type of additional “variety” of backlinks? I’ve used a tool, such as CommentKahuna, which seems to be great for NOFOLLOW backlinks, even though it states you can filter those out, my Firefox Plugin states it still is. Anyways, none the less, can top rankings be done with everything minus the BB? A matter of testing out? I’ll all in!

Another side note, I am ranking for a particular keyword for my grape site, however, google is ranking my main domain page, and not my web page that I have ON-Page SEO for that given keyword. All my efforts with backlinking and UAW + web 2.0′s etc, are all pointing back to the specific web page. In Market Samurai, its not even being ranked! Any help on this situation? Are my efforts ( 1.5 weeks today ) being a waste?

Please advise! Or you can email me from our previousemail, whichever is easiest!

Cheers

Hi Shakd, oh yes – you don’t need BB for ranking anything. It was my choice of tool at the time because its easy to use and it suits my style – I can churn out a few 100 word snippets in no time, whereas working a 500 word article is something totally different – I find that to be hard work. BB is really suitable and comes into its own for nudging up a webpage that may have been stuck in the rankings for a bit. For example, say I’ve got a page stuck at 8th, I can go in and use BB and (depending on comp of course) can see a nice move upwards in a matter of days if using BB.

Regards to seeing the “wrong” page ranking higher in Goog. No worries Shakd – you have to be patient and let Google begin to find your backlinks. This is very often the case – you’ll find that Goog ranks your About Me page far higher than it does your home page, but in time this will turn around, unless you are backlinking your About Me page. They just need to re-index your site and re-work their rankings. Once that’s done you will see a change around.

Best wishes!

Joseph
